Welcome to the new The Ponchatoula Times blog

Dear Readers,
Help me here, this is my first blog, part of the all-new web site for The Ponchatoula Times. What would you like to see posted? What are your interests? Can you turn us on to any news, features, or photo opportunities?
Our alligator, Ole Hardhide, writes a page one column every week from his gated pond in the center of Ponchatoula. What does your gator do?
My wife is fighting breast cancer and maybe that's why it seems everyone knows someone who is newly-diagnosed with the Big C. What is your take on that? Is it our air, our water, or what?
How many sufferers from so-called dyslexia actually have Irlen Syndrome, which is easily treatable and can change lives. Are you interested in that?
If anything you read in our newspaper catches your interest, please register your comments here. I want this to be your space.

Congratulations on the new web site. The new online addition will allow my elderly aunt to magnify the page and easily read the articles. This is a great service.

We have landed a ship on Mars north pole 5-25-08.
Is there life on Mars ? Will we be able to send people to mars and get water to survive for a prolong period of time? The adventure starts! Why do you think its not a good idea to go to Mars or why do you think we should? Remember Those who stay behind can't see why others leave.

Congrats on the new wave of the future, a small town newspaper is up and running with the "Big Guys"!
I need help finding info. on a fatal hit and run of an elderly black man who was on a bicycle about 6 or 7 years ago there in Ponchatoula, never been solved. I am doing a story on unsolved hit and runs. Thanks, Ray M. Legg, PhD, informernews@datastar.net

I'd like to thank all the many workers who worked many hard hours to restore our lives back after Gustav. The police especially did a great job of keeping our property safe and of making sure the gas lines moved fast and orderly as possible. I wish they could do more to stop the speeders and other drivers who don't obey STOP signs or signal when turning.
I look forward to this great little paper every week, keep up the good work.

Just browsing thru all things Ponchatoula, a place I lived many years ago, and began reading the news. Grew up there and left when I was 11 or so. Most of my kin are still somewhere down there in the woods. Good people.

You mentioned your wife has breast cancer. I am so sorry to hear that. I've a daughter battling the same insidious thing. She just mid 30's and started her chemo recently. One thing she did that has helped was to get regular counsel with a nutritionist who has "nursed" many cancer patients through their ordeal. It's helped my daughter a lot. I will pray for your wife.

I now live in Indiana, far from the winds blowing in off the Gulf. I remember how, as a child, living near the woods on Brown Road, I'd sneak out the back door when a hurricane was making things windy, and I'd go climb a tall tree. It was like going to a carnival.

Hope Ike was far enough away to not have troubled y'all (see, some things ya never forget). /smile

On the Nov. 4 ballot Ponchatoula Rec. District 1 wants an additional 4 mill tax. They already have 10 mills. At 14 mills , if this passes, they will be collecting more than Ponchatoula School Bldg at 9 mills,
Sheriff Operational at 10 mills, and Drainage Dist 1 at 10 mills. Check you new property taxes for 2008(whew !) and watch them go up even more in 2009 if this one passes.

Hello,

I thought I would bring to your attention about our New Orleans Northshore Community Portal-www.northshorelinks.com Please take a look as we're already getting a large amount of traffic per alexa.com and likely pushing some viewers your direction. We've been advertising in Inside Northside, Covington Magazine and have a couple of WGSO 990 AM interviews in addition to an upcoming e-newsletter.

I hope you enjoy and also will consider an ad spot (inexpensive) as it should be potent.

Thanks for your consideration.

Sincerely,
